Packaging conformity questionnaire

These answers are used to prepare the EU Declaration of Conformity and the technical file for your packaging, following the regulation’s official model.

Only the questions that apply to your case appear. You can close and come back: answers are saved in your browser.

By selling something made by someone else under your brand, that packaging is yours for the purposes of the regulation (Art. 21). We take that into account throughout.

Your packaging

Add one card per distinct packaging unit. If you sell the same product in 250 g and 1 kg, that is two references.

Do you have many references? You do not have to enter them one by one. Group them into families sharing material and supplier (for example “glass jars 30–100 ml” as a single card) and say how many it covers in the name. Then, in the comments, tell us the full catalogue or attach your list and we will break it down.

Components and materials

Here is the most common mistake: every component counts separately. The cap, the label and the ink are packaging, just like the body.

Start with the components of the first packaging unit. If you have many, you can leave the rest and complete it by email: there is no need to fill in thirty cards in one sitting. That said, packaging you leave without a breakdown cannot be treated as complete — it will appear in the result marked as pending, which is the truth.

Your suppliers

This is what decides whether the file closes in two weeks or two months. Almost everything missing has to be requested from them, and the letter works far better addressed to a named person.

We have grouped by company the suppliers you entered in the previous block. One card per company, even if they supply you five different parts.

Do you have it in writing with any of them that they must notify you if they change the material or the process?

A contract, purchase conditions, a quality agreement or a simple accepted email. It matters because the Declaration stops being valid as soon as they change something without telling you.

We will give you a short clause to put into your purchase conditions. It is the piece that holds the file together over time: without it, any silent change leaves you with a signed document that no longer matches what you sell.

Intended use

It determines whether the substance limits coming into force this year apply.

Based on what you ticked packaging by packaging, the PFAS limits and food-contact materials legislation apply here.

None of your packaging is intended for food contact, so the PFAS limits of Art. 5.5 do not apply to you. If that is not right, correct it in block 2.

Documents and comments

Almost there. This is what does not fit in any box and is usually the most useful part.

Nothing more needs uploading here: the only place to attach anything is the components block, if you have the technical data sheet. As for the rest: when we review your answers we will tell you exactly which are needed and who to request them from, and you send them to us by email. That way nobody gets stuck uploading files.

Anything else we should know?

Tell us any detail of your case the questionnaire has not captured well: a difficult supplier, an unusual packaging unit, a specific doubt, a deadline pressing on you. A person reads this field.
